The BEACH Aged Teak and Graphite steel outdoor dining table has that recycled teak look that is very fashionable. The table top has the 'original' stain finish on it, and it is complemented with a contrasting galvanized and powder-coated steel legs in graphite finish.
'Original' finish is a golden tone, this will fade to a silver grey patina under sunlight and outdoor environment.
To maintain the golden look, a teak stain can be applied from time to time as necessary, or sand back the grey weathering and it will be brown underneath.
The table top is made from reclaimed teakwood slats, Tectona Grandis.
It has a strong presence by virtue of its thick plank effect, and trestle style legs.
The table is manufactured to have a visual "block" effect, visually a handsome table with the contrast of colours and materials from teak to graphite coloured steel legs.
Matching BEACH benches are available in the same finish and materials. The bench is 2.3m Wide.
It is also fashionable to have one bench on one side and chairs on the other, with chairs on each end. The Beach table suits black or charcoal coloured chairs such as the James dining chair, Austin dining chair, Bunga dining chair, Rose dining chair, Iris or Violet dining chair, or even the stackable Luis or Park dining chairs.

Characteristics of reclaimed teak:
Reclaimed teak is a natural and unique teak product which is intentionally designed to have a rustic appearance. This appearance may naturally change over time and is not considered a defect.
Typically, the teak is reclaimed from old teak houses, therefore the timber can have an aged appearance.
Some of this ageing is natural while some may be accentuated at time of manufacture.
This type of teak is chosen for its unique quality – an aged, rustic appearance. It is not intended to emulate new straight grained teak timber. Its special quality lies in its imperfections. Small cracks, knots and other imperfections are characteristic of this type of wood and contribute to its character. Similarly, minor wood bowing is also considered normal and not classed as a defect.
So every piece of reclaimed teak furniture has its own character and structure. Small inlays can be used to fill up minor existing imperfections and give the product a naturally aged look. Due to natural wood expansion and contraction, there can be cracking of glued joints. This is a natural characteristic and adds to the character of the table. This process is considered normal and will not affect the structural integrity of the table.
Teakwood is a natural material and fine cracks in the end grain of components, e.g. legs and laminated tops, may appear due to changes in temperature and humidity and the consequent change in moisture content of the wood. Small fissures will open in the end grain, this is known as checking. This is normal, especially in heavier components and it will not affect the serviceability of your furniture.
Left to age naturally outside, teak will gradually change from its original colour to a soft, silver-grey as the pigments in the surface layer of the wood begin to fade away.
We recommend that you allow your teak furniture to weather naturally this way and simply clean thoroughly once or twice a year with Teak Cleaner to remove accumulated dirt.

Materials:
Teak - Tectona Grandis
High quality teak wood planks are used in the manufacture of this outdoor dining table. Planks are laminated for dimensional stability, then go through a secret manufacturing process to recreate an "antique" finish. Over time it will naturally age to a silver colour, but the dark hue can be maintained by applying coloured teak oil.
Being a high quality hardwood, it will ensure long term use in our extreme NZ seasons.
Product Care:
Teak: no particular care is required, unless if you want to keep the dark brown hue. In this case, regularly oil the table with a suitable high quality teak wood stain/preserver.
If dark, black patches develop on the teak surface, this is due to the growth of mold on the table. This can happen if the table is in an area where there is a lot of tree growth and mold spores are present in the air. If the table stays wet for a period of time, the mold spores can grow in these damp conditions. It is not a sign that the wood is rotting. Treatment can be effected by cleaning with a mild bleach solution. Alternatively, it can be sanded off.
